This is what I saw from the little front porch of my house in Figel, looking toward the right corner of the big house. Heavy rain was a common occurrence in the forest. My house was small, just enough floor room for me to lay out my sleeping mat and mosquito net at night. Like the other houses in Figel, the walls were made of woven split bamboo and the roof was nipa. (See Chapter 2)
